10 Days Uganda Birding Safari

10 Days Uganda Birding Safari takes you across the diverse landscapes of Central and Western Uganda . This journey will lead you to some of Uganda’s prime bird-watching hotspots, promising encounters with rare and exotic avian species.

The adventure begins with your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, where our representative will greet you and facilitate your transfer to your Entebbe accommodation. For early arrivals, an introduction to birding in the Botanical Gardens provides a preview of the birding treasures to come.

Day 1: Arrival for Our Birding Safari

Upon landing at Entebbe International Airport, meet our representative, and transfer to your Entebbe hotel. Commence birding in the Botanical Gardens, where potential sightings encompass the Great Blue and Ross’s Turacos, Red Chested, Klaas’s, and Diederick Cuckoo, and more. Evening birding may include the elusive Bat Hawk.

Day 2: Birding Mabamba Swamp

Drive to Mabamba Swamp for the Shoebill Stork and other water birds. En route, spot species like the Papyrus Gonolek and White Winged Warbler. Explore the swamp by canoe, encountering various species such as Allen’s and Purple Gallinule, Grey, Purple, Rufous Bellied, and Goliath Herons, and the Globally threatened Pallid Harrier. Later, proceed to Lake Mburo for overnight.

Day 3: Birding Lake Mburo

Embark on a morning foot birding and mammal viewing excursion. Spot the Brown-chested Plover and Red-faced Barbet. Afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Mburo, encountering African Finfoot, Giant Kingfisher, and various herons and eagles.

Day 4: Birding to Ruhizha

Travel to Ruhizha in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, birding the Bamboo for species like Handsome Francolin and White-starred Robin. Spend the night at Trekker’s Tarvan or Gorilla Friends.

Day 5: Birding to Mubwindi Swamp

Explore Mubwindi Swamp for the African Green Broadbill, Grauer’s Rush Warbler, and numerous other species. Return for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Birding Ruhizha, Transfer to Buhoma

Bird in Ruhizha, then transfer to Buhoma, spotting species like Rufous-chested Flufftail and Olive Long-tailed Cuckoo. Overnight at Gorilla Resort or Buhoma Community Bandas.

Day 7: Optional Gorilla Tracking

Opt for gorilla tracking or birding in the Buhoma area. Encounter various bird species and, if tracking, observe the mountain gorillas. Return for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Birding to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Ishasha sector. Enjoy a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel, encountering diverse birdlife.

Day 9: Birding Queen Elizabeth National Park

Embark on a morning game drive, observing both wildlife and bird species. Highlights include African Moustached Warbler, Hollub’s Golden Weaver, and more.

Day 10: Departure

Drive back to Kampala via Fort Portal. Departure marks the end of our 10-day birding safari.
