About Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Gazzetted in 1991 and situated in the southwestern corner of Uganda, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park covers an expanse of 321km². This mist-shrouded forest is a realm of remarkable significance, as it shelters over 400 mountain gorillas, accounting for more than half of the world’s surviving mountain gorilla population. These magnificent creatures serve as the park’s primary allure and a testament to its unique status.
The park takes its name from the dense, ancient forest that blankets its terrain. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, as the name suggests, is a captivating tangle of towering trees, thick undergrowth, and intertwined vines.
